I am also experiencing the same in my pc. Now I am thinking of going back to Windows 8. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit people found this reply helpful.

Was this reply helpful? I am having the same issue with my Windows 10 File Explorer, but my load time is 1 to 5 minutes. Thanks, Randy. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 84 people found this reply helpful.

The green loading bar seems to take forever to populate my files if I tried to sort by name, size, type, date etc I'd like to add that it might also depend on the "columns" you have selected in file explorer as well.

It might still take time to load in order to generate the length for all your files in a certain folder. Your previous post, regarding the update, may be part of the issue I've had the same problem and wasn't sure what was happening as I've recently bought a new laptop as well and thought that might be faulty. Apparently windows is up to date and on version Again as a few people have pointed out, I've never had problems until these new windows updates came.

I tried a few suggestions: removed check boxes. I also disabled Quick Access in explorer and updated the indexing locations to both partitions. But the problem again re-appeared. I've also got mapped network shares which seems to be a bit hit and miss at the moment. They seem to randomly disconnect. I've got 2 small servers a large QNAP. What I noticed last night was the Seagate Central again wouldn't connect.

I was also having this explorer slow down problem. Disconnecting the mapped drive and making a new connection seemed to have solved the slow explorer problem well for me anyway. Next, in Performance Options, under Processor scheduling, make sure that Adjust for best performance of: is set to Programs. On Virtual Memory page, make sure Automatically manage paging file sizes for all drives option is checked.

Yes, this helped! Thank you so much! I just removed all check marks from the quick access menu and all explorer actions e. I use hot keys for all those commands. Skip to main content. Opened a few MS Office programs, they took seconds to open. Opened file explorer and it took over 1 minute to open This PC. Restarted and this time connected to our domain wifi.

Logon was normal seconds, all office programs opened within 5 seconds as did file explorer. I believe your machine is performing DNS lookups, which are taking a long time to timeout. Can you disconnect all of your network drives, and connect to the Public Wifi, how does it perform? The machines I have tested are connected to wifi when off the domain.

I am using my Surface Pro to test right now as it is showing this same issue. These machines are not connecting to anything else on the domain outside of the file shares and the DCs. I have had these complaints from another user running a windows 10 laptop who travels quite a bit. He says that his laptop is unusable when logging in under his domain profile while traveling or at home on a wired connection. VPN doesn't need to be connected, the client just needs to be open.

I don't think this is your problem as I don't think being in a domain account vs. However, it is easy to test - just run a speed test with your VPN client open and then closed - so perhaps worth looking at, just in case. When you first sign in, disable the Wifi. I suspect your machine is timing out while attempting DNS lookups. If not configured this defaults to 30 seconds. Enable it and shorten to 0 or 5 or something small and it should help.

Tested logon with airplane mode enabled.
